DataVare 2.0 Update Adds Preview and Selective Export to PST to MBOX Converter Expert, With Mac Support Now Included

New Delhi, India, Aug 29, 2026 — Switching email clients is one of those tasks people put off for months, mostly because they are not sure what will happen to years of saved mail once it lands somewhere new. Software developer Datavare Software is trying to take some of that uncertainty out of the process with a version 2.0 update rolling out across its full line of email conversion tools, including the PST to MBOX Converter Expert used by people leaving Outlook for Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or similar clients.

The update hits four areas at once. There’s a new preview option that allows a person to look inside a PST file, folder by folder, before committing to a conversion, so there’s no guessing what will actually get exported. That is extended by a selective export feature that allows the user to select certain folders rather than having to export an entire mailbox every time, which is most important to anyone who needs a handful of folders moved and doesn’t want to wait through an entire export to get them. The tools are now also native on Mac, filling a gap for users working on both operating systems, but the Mac support is not yet available for the NSF to PST conversion tool. A revised interface completes the package, designed to reduce the back and forth that used to go into finding settings and output options.

None of this changes what PST to MBOX Converter Expert has always done: moving Outlook data into MBOX format for use in Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Entourage and other MBOX based clients, while keeping folder structure intact. What has changed is the level of control and visibility a person has while it is happening.

"A lot of our support tickets used to come from people who converted the wrong folder or the wrong file entirely because they could not see what they were about to export," said a Spokesperson for the Company. "The preview and selective export features came from watching how our own users work, not from a feature checklist. We wanted the tool to slow down in the one place where it's easy to make a mistake and speed up everyplace else."

Datavare internal testing prior to the feature’s public launch showed the preview feature reduced failed or repeated conversion attempts by about one third for beta testers, a figure Datavare largely attributes to a smaller number of accidental full exports when only a partial one was needed. The 2.0 update is being deployed gradually to the company's suite of conversion tools, and PST to MBOX is among the first to get it.
