Ahmedabad, 24th August 2026: Krishna Defence and Allied Industries Limited (KDAIL) has won the ‘Fastest Growing SMEs’ category at the inaugural Top 50 SME Awards, Gujarat, an initiative of Axis Bank and India SME Forum. The recognition places KDAIL among Gujarat’s Top 50 SMEs after a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation of 1,524 nominations received from across the state.

The award was presented by Shri Kamleshbhai Rameshbhai Patel, Minister of State for Finance in the Government of Gujarat at the awards ceremony held in Ahmedabad on 20 August 2026. The ceremony brought together dignitaries, policymakers, senior government officials, industry leaders and accomplished SME entrepreneurs from across the state.

An independent jury comprising distinguished business leaders and industry experts evaluated the nominations against the prescribed parameters. Following detailed scrutiny, the jury finalised the winners during its deliberations held on 14 August 2026.

The award recognises businesses that reflect entrepreneurial spirit, business excellence, resilience, innovation and contribution to Gujarat’s MSME ecosystem. For KDAIL, the recognition marks a significant milestone and acknowledges the team’s role in building and scaling the business.

KDAIL brings over two decades of engineering and manufacturing experience to indigenous defence production, with capabilities spanning precision machining, advanced metallurgy, specialised fabrication and engineered components for the defence and shipbuilding sectors. The Company operates a defence manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, while its associate operations extend into defence electronics and optical military and tactical cable assembly. It continues to broaden its footprint across the ecosystem, with ongoing work in defence electronics, import-substitution product development, composite systems and specialised defence-grade weld consumables, in line with India’s defence indigenisation goals.

“This recognition is a significant milestone in KDAIL’s growth journey and reflects the efforts of our entire team. As we continue to deepen our manufacturing capabilities, accelerate import substitution and expand our indigenous product portfolio across critical defence technologies, our focus remains on creating meaningful impact beyond business growth. We are committed to strengthening India’s defence preparedness, reducing dependence on imports and contributing to a more self-reliant manufacturing ecosystem,” said Mr Ankur Shah, Managing Director, Krishna Defence and Allied Industries Limited.

The recognition further underscores KDAIL’s growing contribution to Gujarat’s MSME and defence manufacturing ecosystem. Having been conferred the ‘Fastest Growing SMEs’ honour, the Company remains focused on strengthening its indigenous manufacturing capabilities, expanding its product portfolio and supporting India’s broader defence indigenisation efforts.
