IIIT-Delhi Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotism, Unity and Community Spirit

18th August 2026: The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on its campus. Bringing together students, faculty, staff and members of the Institute community, the celebrations reflected the shared values of patriotism, unity, togetherness and collective responsibility.
The events included different activities meant to motivate the IIIT-Delhi community beyond academia. The program began with a fitness activity called ‘FitRun’, that affirmed health, discipline and active living. Thus, this activity represents the community which believes in growing together as well as in the spirit of the nation.
The planting of trees was another significant activity in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. By uniting themselves in the activity, the IIIT-Delhi members have voiced their commitment to environmental care in the future. This activity added a new meaning to the celebrations, making them not only enjoyable but also uniting the ideas of nation-building and conservation of the environment.
The ceremonial peak of the celebrations was hoisting of the National Flag by Prof. Sandeep Sen, the Director of IIIT-Delhi. The audience united to celebrate the Tricolour, paying tribute to those who accomplished many things in India’s journey to independence. The hoisting ceremony was followed by an address from the Director.
The programme also featured cultural artistic performances, thus bringing colour, energy and emotions to the celebrations. Thanks to music, performances and creative expressions, the IIIT-Delhi community celebrated the flourishing cultural diversity of India.
The participation of the Institute in the celebration demonstrated that common experiences have the power to strengthen ties among people. The event finished in a spirit of pride and unity with the IIIT-Delhi community swearing its loyalty to principles of peace, responsibility, excellence and service.
