951 Indian Students Graduate with MD Degrees from Gullas College of Medicine

Cebu City, Philippines, 4th Sept 2026: The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City, hosted the 46th Commencement Exercises of Gullas College of Medicine, Inc. (GCM) for Batch Xanthron 2026 on August 28, 2026. Held across two sessions, the ceremony saw 951 Indian students graduate with Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees, as more than 1,000 graduates from across the world came together for the commencement, marking a significant milestone for Indian students pursuing medical education abroad.

A key academic highlight of the graduating batch was that all Top 10 students of Batch Xanthron 2026 hailed from India, emphasising the strong academic performance of Indian students at the institution.

Held under the theme “GCM Physician: Rooted in Compassion, Driven by Excellence, Committed to Service,” the ceremony marked an important moment for the graduating doctors, bringing together academic achievement, leadership recognition and the culmination of years of medical education in the Philippines. The occasion also highlighted the strong presence of Indian students within GCM's international medical community.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Michael Alexander Ang, Owner, The Manila Times; Governor Edwin I. Jubahib; and Dr. Karthik Raj Manoharan, Perioperative Physician specialising in liver transplant anaesthesiology and transplant critical care.

The graduating students were also recognised for their leadership and contribution to student life. Parekh Sahil Dineshbhai received the Outstanding Leadership Award, while Godase Uday Prasenkumar and Upadhyay Purva were presented with the Student Services Leadership Award.

Adding further distinction to the graduating cohort were the achievements of its students in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), India’s qualifying examination for foreign medical graduates seeking to practise medicine in the country. Dr. Dabgar Niravkumar Kalidas secured Rank 2 in the January 2026 FMGE, while Dr. Khushi Nilaybhai Sanghvi emerged as the Top Scorer in the January 2026 FMGE.

As with previous years, the ceremony followed GCM's established commencement traditions, including the presentation and conferring of degrees, the investiture and imposition of hoods and caps by parents and guardians, and the awarding of honours and citations. The graduates then took the Hippocratic Oath, formally entering the medical profession, before being inducted into the GCM Alumni Association.

The 46th Commencement Exercises also added another chapter to the legacy of Gullas College of Medicine, which has produced more than 5,000 alumni and medical graduates worldwide since its founding in 1977. Over the years, the institution has continued to bring together students from different backgrounds and nationalities, creating a global community of medical professionals.

For the Indian graduates, the ceremony marked the culmination of a demanding journey that began with the pursuit of medical education overseas and concluded with the achievement of their MD degrees. The strong academic performance of Batch Xanthron 2026, coupled with the achievements of its students in the FMGE further highlights the growing appeal of the Philippines among Indian medical aspirants.
