Ahmedabad, Gujarat, August 17, 2026 — Synoverge Technologies has modernized the route optimization platform of a leading U.S.-based route optimization and mapping provider serving logistics, delivery, and service-based businesses. The engagement addressed challenges related to the retirement of Bing Maps, limited routing capabilities, scalability, manual reporting and invoicing processes, service disruption risks, and the growing need for AI-based route optimization.

The client’s legacy platform relied on Bing Maps, creating a need for migration to a reliable mapping solution following Microsoft’s retirement of the service. The existing platform also lacked multi-vehicle routing, customer-specific time windows, and truck-specific optimization capabilities. High API traffic during peak usage affected performance, while manual invoice generation and reporting increased workload and the potential for human error.

Synoverge evaluated HERE Maps, Azure Maps, and GraphHopper as potential alternatives. Following prototype development and testing for geocoding and routing, the solution combined HERE Maps for geocoding with GraphHopper for advanced route optimization. The migration was completed without service disruption or downtime, allowing users to transition to the new mapping environment while maintaining business continuity.

The modernized platform introduced multi-vehicle routing to support multiple drivers and routes simultaneously. Truck-specific routing constraints based on vehicle size, weight, and road restrictions were added, along with customer-specific time windows for delivery and pickup scheduling. AI-based optimization algorithms were also integrated to improve route accuracy and overall efficiency.

Automation was another key component of the modernization. Synoverge developed a reporting portal that enabled daily, weekly, and monthly reports to be scheduled, while sales and operations teams could generate on-demand reports to monitor usage and performance. Invoice generation and payment processing were automated through ChargeOver integration, reducing manual tasks.

To support platform expansion, APIs were published on Microsoft Azure Marketplace for subscription-based access. An MCP server for geocoding and optimization was deployed through Docker Hub to support containerized scalability, while API-based access was enabled for both new and existing customers.
The modernization also included a Bing Wrapper, a compatibility layer that translated Bing Maps API calls to Azure Maps. This allowed existing users to continue using their applications without modifying their code.
The resulting platform delivered measurable operational improvements. The migration from Bing Maps to HERE Maps and GraphHopper achieved 100% seamless migration with zero downtime. Mapping accuracy improved by 40%, while automation of reports, invoices, and key business processes reduced manual effort by 50%. Multi-vehicle and truck-specific routing improved route management, safety, compliance, and operational accuracy.

The platform also supports up to 1,000 locations per optimized route. Customer-specific time windows provide greater delivery and route flexibility, while Microsoft Azure Marketplace integration increased API adoption and supported revenue growth. The migration maintained uninterrupted functionality for users throughout the transition.
