Pune, August 3rd, 2026: MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, has officially signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Berlin School of Business and Innovation (BSBI), Germany, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing global higher education. The landmark agreement was signed by Hon. Dr. Rahul V. Karad, Executive President, MIT-WPU, Pune, and Prof. Dr. Kyriakos Kouveliotis Provost, Berlin School of Business and Innovation (BSBI, Berlin) and Chief Academic Officer, Global University Systems, Germany (GGG).

On this occasion, Prof. Shiv Tripathi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, BSBI, Berlin and Mr Ganesh Pokale, Registrar, MIT-WPU Pune, were also present. This collaboration will promote academic and cultural exchange, joint research, and international mobility while creating opportunities for technology-driven learning and innovation to prepare graduates with global competencies.

Mr Ganesh Pokale, Registrar, MIT-WPU Pune, expressed immense optimism about the alliance, stating that MIT-WPU and the Berlin School of Business and Innovation are coming together through this MoU to build bridges that will benefit the entire academic community. Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Dr. Kyriakos Kouveliotis noted that the partnership marks the start of a new chapter in Indian-European educational relations. He emphasized that the institutions will immediately begin driving active student and faculty exchanges, strengthening common research ties, and coordinating reciprocal bilateral visits to enrich the learning experience.

While addressing the MIT-WPU faculty, Prof. Dr. Kouveliotis outlined a transformative vision for the future of global education, highlighting the need to integrate Artificial Intelligence responsibly. He explained that by automating heavy administrative tasks like formatting and syllabus updates, educators can free up valuable time to focus on deep student mentoring and authentic communication. He asserted that institutions embracing AI in this manner will create richer, high-value educational experiences rather than cheaper models aimed at cutting resources or reducing faculty lines.

Prof. Dr. Kouveliotis also addressed the global trend of student mobility, noting that nearly 70% of his students across five German institutions originate from India. While acknowledging the value of international experience, he urged Indian institutions to bring world-class elements home to reverse the "brain drain" of talented minds permanently exporting their skills abroad. He praised MIT-WPU's unique Life Transformation Centre for championing this continuous upskilling ecosystem.

Concluding his address, Prof. Dr. Kouveliotis lauded MIT-WPU for possessing a strong academic foundation balanced with a rare, powerful philosophical identity centered on world peace, harmony, and conflict resolution. He noted that while Western universities are often over-focused on profit targets, MIT-WPU’s distinct ethical model positions it to become a global innovation hub. He envisioned the university leading international solutions in critical sectors like healthcare innovation, climate technologies, smart manufacturing, and sustainable development, creating truly responsible global citizens.
