Amity University Haryana organizes One-Week Faculty Development Programme on “Changing Contours of Legal Education in Virtual Era”

25/07/2022: Constant change in life is a phenomenon in the ever-evolving nature of society, and the field of Education is also evolving. Digitalization of Education used to seem far away dream before the occurrence of the Covid-19 Pandemic, which has changed the whole idea of Education and its methods. Online Education has helped many in the past years; but the method had never received more recognition than now. The biggest benefit of E-learning opportunities is that teachers are able to focus their energies on educational functionality. Especially in the legal field, many online tools have been developed and made available to all personnel.

With the growth of digital technology, it has become imperative that not only the practice of Law, but also legal education adapts to these technologies. The concept of digital legal technology encompasses everything, and the goal is to integrate web-based learning ecosystem within the current teaching-learning environment of legal education. The use of digital techniques in the legal field can bring about a great change and Legal professionals who are familiar with this technology will be able to comprehend the effects of digitalization on Law and the role Law plays in society. Keeping this in mind, Amity Law School in association with Amity Academic Staff College, Amity University Haryana organizes One-Week Faculty Development Programme on ?Changing Contours of Legal Education in Virtual Era? from 25- 31 July 2022.

The FDP is divided into 7 sub themes, i.e. ?Issues and Challenges of Online Education for Marginalized Section in Post COVID-19 Pandemic,? by Dr Bir Pal Singh, Associate Professor, NLIU, Bhopal; ?Holistic Approach to the Online Teaching-Learning ranging from Emotional Turmoil to the Pedagogy,? Dr. Ankit Singh Assistant Professor Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur; ?Empowering Teachers for Excellence in Higher Education in 21st Century,? by Dr. Yogendra Kr. Srivastava, Professor, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur; ?Learning Pedagogy with the aid of Technology,? by Prof. (Dr.)Avinash Dadhich Professor & Dean and Director Strategy, GLA University; ?Challenges Faced in Digital Pedagogy,? by Dr. Nuzhat Parveen Khan, Dean School of Law, Bennett University, Noida, UP; ?Role and Responsibilities of a Teacher from Classroom to Digital Room,? by Dr. Mohammad Asad Malik Professor Jamia Millia Islamia, University, Delhi; ?National Education Policy 2020: Issues and Challenges,? by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kulshrestha Dean, School of Law Sharda University, Noida, UP.

The inaugural ceremony began with the opening remarks by Rear Admiral K. K. Pandey, Director, Amity Academic Staff College who appreciated and emphasized on the need of taking such initiatives through programmes like this for overall development of an Institution and Faculty Members.
Prof. (Dr.) P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Haryana in his address highlighted the importance of Legal Education and the need for amelioration of the existing system of Legal Education in India. He also expressed his ecstasy on organizing this event as it will act as a stepping-stone for a discourse and deliberation on the topic of Legal Education and further asserted how small efforts like these can bring about a reform at large.

The Guest of Honor, Mr. Karnal Singh, Former Chief of Enforcement Directorate appreciated the Event and enlightened the gathering with his insightful thoughts. He said that the viability of Online Education has been appreciated because of the availability of the option of getting educated at one?s own pace and time.

The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal, Vice- Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, in her inaugural speech said that Education is important as it is the biggest strength of each individual which protects like a mother and takes care like a father. She further emphasized that a teacher must do more than mere ?Teaching? and focused that Teachers are the chain between Governance, Justice System and Masses. She appreciated the Themes of the FDP and congratulated Amity Law School for the FDP.
While delivering his Vote of Thanks, Maj Gen PK Sharma (Retd), Director, ALS said that it has always been an honour to have Mr. Karnal Singh and Prof. (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal with us, who keep enlightening us with their sea of knowledge and practical experience.

Dr Sanjna Vij, Mr. Pranshul Pathak, Dr. Atul Jain, Dr. Monica Yadav, Ms. Neha Mishra, Ms. Papaya Golder, were also present with almost 100 participants.
