Siliguri to host the Everest International Film Festival in August

Situated at the base of the Himalaya Mountains in the plains of Darjeeling District by the side of River Mahananda, Siliguri will be hosting its first Everest International Film Festival in August 2019. Promoted and organized by Filmy Sansaar and Eon Films with the support of various Film Forums, the Everest International Film Festival (EIFF) is founded to showcase the beauty of the Himalayan Range, encompassed by Tea Gardens and its prominent role in contemporary film shootings, and aims to exhibit the most captivating and innovative content.
With an aim to become an internationally-recognized festival that provides a space for filmmakers to believe in their content without worrying about the commercial exploits, the Everest International Film Festival remains committed to its mission to discover and develop independent artists and audiences across the globe. Through its programs, the festival seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent filmmakers across India as well around the globe, and to introduce audiences to their new work.
Breaking free from stereotypes and bringing films into theaters, classrooms, businesses, and even organizations throughout the state, the mission of EIFF is to present quality films from around the world as well as support, recognize and honor indie filmmakers. The EIFF will not only be a platform for showcasing films and networking but will also serve as a travel city to the transcending Himalayan scopes of Gangtok, Mirik, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Kurseong inside India and furthermore to neighboring nations like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar.
Slated to be happening from August 23-25, 2019, the EIFF is a full-fledged three day Film Festival showcasing not only excellent films and contemporary filmmaking skills with features, Shorts, Documentaries, Mobile Films, Music Videos and Web Series; but also hopes to be a dedicated contributor to the cultural arts, economy and education, through a highly effective strategic partnership model. EIFF will be introducing unique programs not only during its 3-day period but will also have year-round programming through fellowships and workshops to keep the spirit of film making alive.
Submissions are on for the three-day festival that will feature a sizeable number of films from more than 35 countries, and will see people of various communities thronging the venue to enjoy films from countries like USA, UK, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Bangladesh, Iran, Poland and many others in English and the country’s own languages. Indian regional language films like Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Bhojpuri, and south Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, and Kanada will be showcased.
