Business of Car Rentals Spurts By Up to 25% Despite Demonetisation

New Delhi/19-Dec-2016: Demonetisation, i.e. complete ban on 500 and 1000 Rs. old notes, affected people and businesses alike. But business of car rental services spurts by up to 25% despite demonetisation. Thanks to weddings and tourist season.

Government of India?s decision to ban high denomination notes in November came as a setback to many people. Some businesses were also affected. But some client services like car rentals witness growth up to 25% in demand. Largely because of tourist season and weddings.

"We are seeing the market for cab rentals growing despite demonetisation and in the past 4 weeks, SUV cab rentals have been 20-25% more than what we saw in 2015," said Jaiveer Tomar, owner, Aone Trips, top car rental services from Delhi. In fact, demonetisation has helped move big part of car market to rentals, he added.

Wedding season has also helped in boosting car rental business. "It is obvious that note ban has had an Impact on purchases but weddings are occasions when people need luxury and so many car buyers are opting to rent a car rather than buy." Says Ram Tanwar, owner, star travels, a Mumbai based car aggregator.

Car aggregators are witnessing wedding season cab demand shot by a good 25% as people opt for cashless options and taxi services are a big help. As Jaiveer Tomar ( Aone Trips )says, "our services are completely cashless and so we have become good option particularly for destination weddings and outstation trips. We are seeing around 25% increase in demand in addition to the usual wedding season demand.?

Meanwhile, car aggregators are pushing marketing efforts to tap the opportunity in wedding season and Christmas holidays.
