Reliance Retail, country’s leading retailer has entered into a unique partnership with TJ’s for their food product linesuch as bread, cookies, cakes, namkeen, biscuits, rusks, loaves.
The pilot project was today launched by Shri Neeraj Kumar, Commissioner of Police Delhi at the Reliance Fresh store at Zamrudpur in South Delhi. Sh. Kumar unveiled an array of TJ’s snacks both sweet, savory & bakery items that would now be available at 26 Reliance Fresh stores of West Delhi
Speaking on the occasion Shri Neeraj Kumar, who was earlier DG (Prisons), Delhi and who has initiated the unique collaboration, said “TJ’s are not only a product but a movement aimed at reforming prison inmates by channelizing their energy towards learning vocational skills & productive work. It’s heartening to see that Reliance Retail is partnering withPrison authorities to give the initiative a wider customer base”
In 1995, what began as a modest initiative has turned TJ’s into a well-recognized brand across Delhi. TJ’s evolved behind the walls of TiharJail, with the jail inmates making range of products such as bakery items, spices, stationery, furniture, blankets, garments and detergent resulting in the evolution of the brand TJ. Over the years, the portfolio has expandedby leaps and bounds to include handloom and textile, apparel, furniture, mustard oil, stationery paper products and even phenyl for household uses.
TJ's products comply with global food safety norms and are certified under various ISO norms. TJ's revenues have risen from Rs 2.36 crore in 2004-2005 to about Rs 18 crore in the last fiscal year

It has been awarded various international standard certifications, such as: ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), ISO 22000:2005 (Food Safety Management System). The production facility is comparable to the best in the business in terms of quality & hygiene”
According to the Reliance Retail spokesperson “TJ’s is a great initiative and we are happy to support the cause and be associated with it. Reliance is known for its commitment towards social causes and the effort of the jail inmates in making quality products should be appreciated. We are beginning with this pilot and based on the customer feedback the products would be available across all Reliance Fresh stores in the city. The initial customer response during the pilot phase has been very encouraging.”
