Medhavi Skills University Welcomes Batch 2026 with “PRARAMBH”, Reinforcing Its Vision of Skill Building for a Skill-First India

Delhi, August 14, 2026: Medhavi Skills University (MSU), Sikkim, welcomed its newest cohort of students at its annual Orientation Programme “PRARAMBH 2026” at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, marking the beginning of their journey at the University and introducing them to MSU’s skills-first approach to higher education.

Bringing together students, parents, faculty members, policymakers, industry and institutional leaders, and distinguished guests, PRARAMBH 2026 highlighted MSU’s emphasis on skills, experiential learning, industry exposure, community engagement and personal development.

A key highlight of the ceremony was “Building Bonds- A Community Policing Initiative of Sikkim Police”, led by Shri Akshay Sachdeva, IPS, DGP, Government of Sikkim and Chief Guest for the Event. Following the address by Shri Niraj Khatiwada, Station House Officer, Sadar Police Station, Gangtok, Sikkim, the two-hour interactive session featured roleplay, introduced students to community participation, civic responsibility and the importance of constructive engagement with society.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sachdeva, stated “I wanted to bring the ‘Building Bonds’ session to students at the very start of their university journey because success demands more than academic knowledge. Discipline, courage, communication, collaboration and the confidence to solve problems and take risks are the skills that will set them apart.”

Addressing the incoming batch, Shri. Kuldip Sarma, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor and Co-Founder, Medhavi Skills University, said, “The world our students are entering is changing faster than ever before. Success will depend not only on what they know, but on how well they can learn, adapt, apply and create. At MSU, we want students to experience education as preparation for life and work, not simply as a degree to be completed.”

The programme featured addresses by Dr. Sankar Prasad Das, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim and Shri A. Hemochandra, Deputy Inspector General, Sector HQRs, Shasastra Seema Bal, Gangtok, who brought perspectives from research, public service, national institutions and the world of work. The speakers highlighted the importance of applying knowledge to real-world challenges and developing curiosity, adaptability and problem-solving abilities.

Shri Prawin Lamechaney, Additional Superintendent of Police, Smt. Niroo Sharma Squadron Leader (Retd) Indian Air Force, Shri Pawan Yadav, Head HR Subros Limited, Shri Sanjay Kumar Deputy Manager- HR, Subros Ltd. Gujarat Plant, Shri Prasad P Mavilavalappil GM (Global) Technical Services Head, QHSE and Training SHM Shipcare Pvt. Ltd, Shri Mingur Nadikpa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shri Dikin Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Smt. Rinchen Bhutia, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Shri Kunal Mora, Deputy Superintendent of Police also graced the event.

Encouraging the students, Shri Pravesh Dudani, Hon’ble Founder and Chancellor, MSU, said “A Skills-First India will be built by young people who can turn knowledge into action. Our responsibility is to give students the opportunity to learn by doing, solve real problems, experiment and discover their capabilities. At MSU, we want our students to contribute to nation-building, innovate and create opportunities for themselves and others.”

The University’s commitment to experiential and work-integrated learning was further highlighted through a dedicated session on On-the-Job Learning (OJL), followed by experience-sharing by MSU students. The session sensitised students and parents to the growing importance of practical, industry-relevant skills, while demonstrating how workplace exposure helps students apply classroom learning, build professional confidence and prepare for the evolving world of work.

The cultural programme featured group songs, traditional and contemporary dances, duet performances and a performance by the University Band, showcasing the talent and diversity of the MSU student community.

PRARAMBH 2026 thus marked the beginning of the Batch of 2026’s Skills-first journey at MSU, bringing together skills, experience, community engagement and student participation as key elements of the University’s approach to higher education.
