Sukhmal Jain has been appointed as the new Marketing Director by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, reports BPCL.

Arun Kumar Singh, C&MD, who took over as BP's CEO on September 7, 2021, held the additional duty of Director of Marketing before Sukhmal Jain.

Jain was the leader of the Gas Business Unit before being promoted to the board and served as the Executive Director in Incharge (Marketing Corporate) in the corporate office.

He received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and his MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research.

In the more than three decades of his illustrious career, he has successfully negotiated the strategy and loyalty programmes in the retail business and actively participated in initiatives that have defined the industry, such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana and the Give it Up campaign in the LPG business.

Under his direction, the Gas BU played an increasingly significant role in advancing the Government's objective of transforming India into a gas-based economy, which portends widespread economic prosperity while also reducing the country's reliance on oil imports and assisting in the reduction of carbon emissions.

Jain serves as the company's chairman, Goa Natural Gas Pvt. Ltd. (GNGPL). He formerly served as the chairman of Central UP Gas Ltd (CUGL) and a director on the board of Bharat Gas Resources Limited (BGRL), a recently merged subsidiary of BPCL.

One of India's top integrated energy companies and the country's second-largest oil marketing company is Bharat Petroleum, a Fortune Global 500 company. It has a significant presence in the upstream and downstream of the oil and gas industry and is actively involved in refining crude oil and marketing petroleum products. The company earned the Maharatna classification, entering an elite club of companies with more operational and financial independence.

Bharat Petroleum combines its strategy, investments, and environmental and social aspirations to advance toward a sustainable planet. Over the next five years, the business plans to install electric vehicle charging stations at over 7000 energy stations.

With an emphasis on sustainable solutions, the company is developing a thriving environment and a road plan to be a Net Zero Energy Company by 2040 in terms of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Bharat Petroleum has been working with communities through supporting several programmes, particularly in education, water conservation, skill development, health, community development, capacity building, and employee volunteerism.
