Moscow SEZ Company Has Developed Innovative Materials for the Construction of Buildings in the Arctic

A training center, a warehouse and a gas storage facility are being built from innovative flexible sandwich panels in the Arctic.
A company from the SEZ Technopolis Moscow has developed a new material for the rapid construction of reliable buildings in the harsh natural conditions of the Arctic. The novelty is called "flexible sandwich". These are panels consisting of two layers of an awning with insulation in the middle. They are distinguished from other sandwich panels by the use of fabric materials and large sizes. One panel can cover an area of up to 200 square meters.
Such panels are delivered to the assembly site ready-made, which minimizes the number of assembly operations at the installation site. That aves time. The awning is made of PVC material, which ensures tightness and waterproofing.
"The development has successfully passed all tests and is already being applied in practice. In the Arctic, a training center building, a warehouse and a storage facility are being built for a project to produce liquefied natural gas from a "flexible sandwich". The capital's company from the Technopolis Moscow SEZ has already delivered 17 thousand square meters of innovative material to the Far North," said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial policy of Moscow.
The "flexible sandwich" is the capital manufacturer's own invention, at the moment the company is at the final stage of obtaining a patent. Construction with its use is an opportunity to quickly erect objects of varying degrees of complexity in the harshest natural conditions. For example, in the Arctic, the thermometer can drop below -50 degrees Celsius, and strong winds are also characteristic of this region. At the same time, the new material is on average 30% cheaper than metal sandwich panels and it is easier to install.
The developer company has been located at the Alabushevo site of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow since 2020. It rents premises with a total area of about one thousand square meters. They have a design bureau and a construction and engineering organization.
According to the results of the first ten months of 2021, the company produced about 40 thousand square meters of innovative panels.
According to Gennady Degtev, CEO of SEZ Technopolis Moscow, the company has a powerful innovative potential, which distinguishes most enterprises of the special economic zone. Many residents and enterprises operating in the SEZ offer solutions for the construction industry: from bridge fences made of composite materials to equipment for sewage treatment plants.
