3000 people benefitted from the Mega Legal Aid Camp

Around 3000 people attended Mega Legal Aid Camp at MMIM Block of MM(DU) Mullana where the legal experts, faculty and students sensitized them about their Child Abuse Rights, Consumer Rights, Right to information, FIR (First Information Report), Free Legal Aid, Right to Education, etc. The camp was organized by the Department of Law, MM(DU) in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority, Ambala. The camp turned out to be a huge success with Rs 18 lakhs of loan given to the needy by banks, multiple corrections in Aadhar card incorporated upon people?s request, on-the-spot registration of marriages and income certificate generation. Around 15 Sewing machines were also distributed to the needy.
On this occasion Sh. T.C. Gupta, Chairman of Right to Service Commission, Haryana was also honoured. He highlighted various provisions under Right to Service and the time lines specified for dispersal different type of requests made by general public. He interacted with the officers and the stalls put up for the general public. Region?s leading legal experts and subject authority including Dr Sukhda Pritam, Chief Judicial Magistrate, DLSA, Ambala; Sh. Sachin Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ambala and Sh. Girish Kumar, SDM, Barara were also present for the occasion. They spoke about how important these legal services camps are as they create the much-needed awareness on legal rights among masses. Dr Tarsem Garg, the Chairman of M.M. Trust appreciated the role of District Legal Service Authority, Ambala saying, ?They are doing a wonderful job of bridging the awareness gap. People are not aware of legal terminology and how various laws impact them. DLSA, Ambala has started this imitative of bringing all the stakeholders under one roof so that those who need the services of government agents can utilise the facility easily. We are happy to be their partner in this significant activity.?
The camp also gave a good opportunity to the students of law department to interact and guide with masses and create awareness about nuances of civil and criminal-legal arena in lucid manner. Representatives of Ambala?s District Social Welfare Office, Women and Child Development, Health Department; Common Service Centre, Horticulture Department, District Employment Office, District Management Department, Labour Department, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Postal Department, Child Helpline, District Education Office, Govt ITI, Police Department, District Rural Development Agency, Haryana AIDS Control Society, Pollution Control Board and Agriculture Department marked their presence in the camp along with NGOs like Rotary Club, Red Cross Society and Novelty Education Society of Ambala.
