May 25th, 2021: Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Israel is now inviting applications for its newly launched master’s program in Mechatronics Engineering. The new program is offered by the department of Mechanical Engineering.
Mechatronics Engineering is a relatively new engineering field, designed to meet the growing need for integration of various engineering fields. It is a combination of electrical engineering, electronics, computer, and mechanical engineering. This integration is necessary in the design and manufacture of mechanical systems that integrate computers and electronic components, such as: robotic systems, missile control and steering systems, automatic production systems and more.
The master's degree program in Mechatronics engineering offered by BGU is an interdisciplinary program that combines courses from various engineering departments- mechanical, electrical &computer engineering along with industrial and management engineering. The purpose of the program is to enable students to solve engineering problems between complex areas. It provides the tools necessary for the dynamic analysis of mechanical systems as a basis for the design and implementation of control systems, a systematic understanding of closed-loop control systems, and the design of control loops.
Graduates will receive a master's degree in Mechatronic Engineering.
The M.Sc. degree requirements include the successful completion of 8 courses aimed at establishing the necessary advanced background in robotics, control, and estimation theories, as well as carrying out a research project culminating in a full M.Sc. thesis within 2 academic years (4 semesters).
Course dates: October 2021
Application deadline:June 30, 2021
· A B.Sc. degree in engineering, physics, or computer science from an accredited institution at a minimum GPA of 80/100.
· A TOEFL score of at least 85/120 or the equivalent score in an internationally recognized English proficiency exam is required. The English proficiency requirement is waived for applicants who received their B.Sc. degree in a program taught in English
· GRE is recommended but not required.
· An international applicant should contact a potential advisor prior to applying to the M.Sc. program. To assist you in finding an advisor, please visit Scholars@BGU.Candidates will be invited for an admissions interview (on-line). In some cases successful applicants will be assigned prerequisite courses to complete based on their previous studies. The supervisor will guide the student in carrying out the master's thesis research work.
Tuition is approximately $ 5,000 (US) per year. Outstanding students may be eligible for scholarships, which cover tuition fees and provide living expenses.
