On November 5, 2020, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) released its 166th draw, under which it issued invitations to a total of 4500 candidates who applied under the Express Entry Program. Candidates needed to have at least 478 CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) scores in order to get an invitation to apply for Canada?s Permanent residence.

The CRS cut-off released in the recent Express entry draw held on November 5, 2020 is 7 points higher than the previous draw held on October 14, 2020. A tie-breaking rule was applied under this Express Entry Draw which means that the candidates having a CRS score of 478 or more who submitted their application prior to October 26, 2020 at 22:14:19 UTC were issued an invitation in the Express Entry Draw held on November 5, 2020.

It is an all-program draw held by IRCC, meaning that candidates in the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), including provincial nominees were considered. As per the latest announcement from the Canada?s Immigration minister, from now onwards, the French-speaking candidates and the bilingual candidates (Who can speak both English and French) will now get additional points in the CRS point?s calculator.

Generally, Express Entry draws are conducted every fortnight; however, there was a delay in this draw so that candidates can update their profiles with the latest changes introduced by the Immigration minister.

For the French-speaking candidates, the current number of points increased from 15 to 25. On the other hand, for the bilingual candidates, the points increased from 30 to 50. The latest express entry draw brings the total number of ITA?s issued in 2020 to a total of 87,350. It is a positive indication that despite the chaos created by the pandemic, the maple country is geared more towards inviting more and more skilled immigrants to immigrate to Canada and become permanent residents.
