The L&D Conclave-2019 organised by “Angle Training Forum” had representation from almost two thirds of the pharma industry

More than 100 senior L&D Professionals representing over 60 top pharmaceutical companies, from five major metro cities, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai attended a Training Conclave recently organised by Angle Training Forum in Mumbai.

An online social media forum, founded by Milind Mangle, an award-winning founder and internationally certified coach of Angle Consultancy & Services, the Angle Training Forum?s WhatsApp group has reportedly evolved into one of the leading resources for trainers in the sector, with members from more than 200 top pharma companies. A core team of 10 members from the Forum organised the L&D Conclave-2019. More than 100 senior professionals from over 50 top pharma companies attended the Conclave, making it ?Kumbh Mela? of L&D professionals for the second time in succession in the history of Indian Pharma Industry.

The inspirational and iconic Mr K G Ananthakrishnan was the Chief Guest who inaugurated the event. In his inaugural address, he emphasised the increasing importance of L&D function being the ?Strategic Business Partner,?and on the job training for frontline sales professional.
Mr. Bhagwat Dhingra, former CEO of Unichem, was the Guest of Honour at the Conclave. He touched upon the crucial effectiveness of frontline sales professionals with customers for impact on business and the requisite training interventions.

Ms Hemalaxmi Raju, Chief Learning Officer, Reliance Industries, dwelt upon how?Design Thinking? can be leveraged to create focused learning interventions that improve retention and result in better outcomes. ?Focus should be more on learners than content, from programmes to solutions and interventional execution to learner experience,?she said.

Learner centricity is at the heart of Design Thinking. Mr.Vinay Pradhan, Country Manager and VP, India Skillsoft, held forth on the need for Learner-centric e-learning Programmes in the wake of redefined work landscape and work experience. He also mentioned how e-learning programmes can influence employee engagement, employee productivity with reduced cost and the Skillsoft e-learning offerings.

Mr. Santosh Dayal, GM & Head ? Sales Training, Glenmark Pharmaceutical, showed how the culture of ?Continuous Learning,when aligned with learning and organizational strategy, can fuel growth with the help of digital initiatives.

Artificial intelligence in L&D is the emerging digital initiative. Ms Moushmi Dasgupta, founder of Analytics Domain, spoke about the scope for AI in L&D and how it can be incorporated into L&D strategies.

The L&D Conclave had an array of diverse and relevant topics in keeping with the emerging needs of L&D professionals, L&D Next being one such topic handled expertly by Dr, Swatee Sarangi, Head ? Capability Development, Larsen &Toubro.

She offered insights into how Millennial and Baby-boomer generation of employees can be engaged with crisp micro learning that employees can pick up on the go and with flow. ?How an employee learns best is more important than what an employee needs to learn, she opined. Dr. Swatee also underscored the need to incentivize learning for better long term engagement, offering employees learning courses while still in the employment.

Mr. Jagmohan Rishi, Vice President ? Business Training, Business Intelligence and Digital Business Strategy at Wokhardt, reviewed his recently launched book, ?Are you @ Digital Dinosaur,?an Amazon Best Seller. A part of the proceeds of the book go to the charity,?Bharat key Veer.?

Every organisation undertakes many innovative initiatives, it is very important to share such initiatives with others. L&D Conclave, organized by Angle Training Forum, served as an excellent platform for the same. In order to get maximum ideas about innovative initiatives, a panel discussion was held on ?Best Practices in L&D.? The panel discussion was moderated by B. Ramnathan, SeniorLearning and OD Manager, Sun Pharma. The panellist were Ms Manisha Vithaldas, Associate Director, Abbott, Mr. Ramesh Juneja, Vice President, Sun Pharma, Acute Care, Mr. Prabhat Pandey, Head ?Sales and Training Development at Sanofi and Mr. Sushil Barkur, GM and Head L&D, Alkem.

Providing high quality content to the right people at the right time with speed is the essence of ?Content Curation?in the volatile world of business today. Mr. Srinivas KS dealt with authority on the subject of ?Content Curation? elucidating why Content Curation is necessary, its types and the skills and tools needed to curate content.

Paper Presentation made a debut at Conclave with Ms Priti Mohile, Co-founder and MD of Media Medic Communications and Mr. Suman Deb, Sales and Behavioral Trainer, Emcure. (Add a couple of lines for Priti Mohile). Mr. Suman presented a paper on ?L&D Interventions and Employee Life Cycle.?

Finally, it was Business Story Telling time by Mr. Praveen Wadalkar, CEO and Founder of Techizer Tech Solutions. Mr. Praveen in his unique style conveyed that stories make connections, build relations which in turn impacts business positively. And how Business Story Telling is emerging as a new skill. The stories within his Business Story Telling session caught the fancy of audience.

One of the reasons for the success of L&D Conclave -2019 was the topics, which were well researched and the speakers were experts in their subjects. The Conclave was so enriching in terms of content and learning that there was a spontaneous feedback to have more such Conclaves. One of the speakers summed it up by saying, ?Angle Training Forum has now evolved into an Institution. The Conclave concluded with the host Mr. Nitin Kagalkar, Senior Trainer and Coach, Angle Consultancy & Services, proposing a Vote of Thanks.
