Election plays a pivotal role in ensuring a strong Democratic system in the Country. As the State of Haryana is approaching Legislative Assembly Elections, the Legal Aid Cell of Amity Law School, Amity University Haryana, organized One Day Camp on ?Voting Rights: Ballot Is Stronger Than The Bullet? on 28th?August, at its Manesar campus.

A team of thirty (30) students of Amity Law School, Amity University Haryana under the guidance of Faculty Coordinators organised a healthy and knowledgeable Legal Aid Camp and took initiative to develop a conducive environment for awareness of all, addressing their problems, queries and suggestions regarding Voting Rights in India. Students also made posters and distributed pamphlets. Many students, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff, House-keeping and Security Personnel of the University approached the Camp with queries and even suggested measures on numerous issues related to voting.

Maj. Gen. P. K. Sharma (Retd.), Prof. Director, Amity Law School and Dean, Faculty of Law motivated the students by testing their knowledge quotient and enhancing it with paradigms of prudence which are not found in books, along with the practical aspects of Voting Rights related to Defence Personnel.

More than 360 persons approached the Camp where some of the important points raised included vigilance and effective regulation of Election in India, to exalt the status of NOTA (None of the Above), nonchalance nature of voters abstaining to vote, modernised method of getting the Voter ID Card through online, semi-online and offline methods, the use of NOTA and its relevance, how to develop a mechanism for making people aware about wise selection of their representative, the provision of Article 326 of the Indian Constitution, documents to be used when the Voter ID is lost but the name of the voter appears in the electoral roll, and the aspects and concept of Overseas Voters.
