New Delhi, July, 19, 2011: Human Resource managers from leading corporate houses congregated recently at an enriching seminar organized by Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) on a very important and emerging challenge 'Managing Gen - Y @ Workplace'.
Christened as GEN-Y @ Workplace - "Discover the Key to unlock the GEN-Y Potential", the day-long seminar was co-organized by National HRD Network & NHRDN Mumbai Chapter in association with JIMS. The seminar comprised of four interactive panel discussions. The focus was on what makes Gen-Y different from other generations, what most influences and allures them and how can organizations engage and inspire them to maximize their impact and productivity.
The seminar was appreciated by both JIMS students and faculty. Speaking on the occasion Dr. J.K. Goyal, Director, JIMS said, "With the infiltration of Gen Y, unique culture has come up in the corporate environment with the inter-generational functioning. Management has to surface new strategies to align different generations to cater the larger goals of the organization. This is stimulating new methods of thinking, behaving, communicating, and doing business in the organization. We at JIMS are happy to hold a seminar that focuses on all these aspects. We are sure that the knowledge shared today will help our students a lot when they will step into the corporate world."
The first session was on 'Wooing GEN-Y'. During this session, the participants viz. Marcel Parker, Chairman, IKYA Human Capital Solutions, (Chair), Sonali Roychowdhury, Head Human Resources, Procter & Gamble India, Judhajit Das, Head Human Resources, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, K. Sudeep, Head, Talent Acquisition-India, Tata Consultancy Services and Dr. J.K. Goyal-Director, JIMS shared their insights on The Branding Way, Channelizing the Vigor and Enhancing the Proficiency.
In the next session on 'GEN-Y- The Communique' ideas were shared on the use of new communication mediums and the emerging role of social media by the speakers - Saagarika Ghoshal, Chief People Officer, Reliance BIG Entertainment India, Ramesh Sangare, President, HRDC, Ujjwal Banerjee, Head-Quality Assurance, Academy of Global Education Services and Pooja Jain, Associate Professor, JIMS.
The third session consisted of discussion on another interesting topic 'Keeping GEN-Y Engaged'. The speakers of this session were Rajesh Padmanabhan, Head-Human Resources, Capgemini India (Chair), Dr. Tanaya Mishra. Chief People Officer, ACC Concrete Limited, Balaji Chandrakumar, Vice President, Human Resources, Etisalat DB Telecom and Dr. Sujaya Banerjee, Chief Learning Officer, Essar Group. They discussed the entertainment needs of Gen-Y. How beyond the compensation and monetary benefits, the Gen-Y needs its share of frolic and care at the work place.
The last session focused on 'Y Stay-Retention Strategies for GEN-Y'. The key talk points of this session were Work-life Balance, Growth Opportunities, Monetary and Non-Monetary Benefits. It was addressed by Gopalji Mehrotra, VP and Global Head (HR), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Chair), Swati Datye, Director, (HR), First Data India, Aparna Sharma, Director HR, DBOI Global Services (Deutsche Bank Group) and Priyank Parakh,HR Business Partner, Kraft Food (Cadbury India).
