Study In Canada ? Initiatives From Government For Attracting New International Students.

The government has pledged nearly 30 million CAD to diversify the recruitment of international students. It has been found that more than half of the international student population in the country come from India and China. These students are mainly based in metropolitan cities such as Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. The governmental strategy?s new recruitment efforts are expected to target countries such as Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, Turkey, the Philippines, Mexico, Colombia, Indonesia, France and Ukraine. The federal governmental strategy has also aimed to diversify the base location of international students who study in Canada. This would help to bring international student talent to regional and rural areas of Canada, which do not usually receive as many immigrants as the urban areas. This would help create a balance in population as well as economic growth.

Canada boasts of being home to world-renowned universities such as McGill University, in Montreal, as well as the University of Toronto, which have been ranked among the top universities and are popular with students from all over the world. Canada also has many smaller universities such as the University of Lethbridge, Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, B.C, etc, which provide a low budget option for quality education. The government of Canada?s new strategy aims to improve both the quantity as well as diversity of the student intake for the current year as well as years coming ahead. This could lead to greater ease in the application process as well as encouraging incentives to apply to Canadian universities.
