Many federal and local health officials advised Americans not to travel this holiday season, but plenty of people headed home after Christmas Sunday at various International Airports.

Bridgeport, Connecticut- December 30th, 2020, – The Winter Holidays, New Year’s Eve and Christmas are times when many people travel long distances to celebrate with these events family and friends. This year’s Christmas celebrations were somewhat different from previous years as many people have lost their loved ones amid Covid-19 pandemic. But still the pandemic doesn’t stop the people from travelling as many have not seen their families since air travelling restrictions were imposed. Airports were following the covid-19 SOPs but still people were sitting right next to each other and flights were jammed packed.

Transport Security Administration still screened about seven million people in the week before Christmas while holiday travel is down this year as compared to previous years.

“According to various reports December was the deadliest month since the pandemic begins and January projections are nightmarish.”

Dr. Jerome Adams the U.S. Surgeon general says he's worried about the number of people traveling and advised people to get tested if they did. He also advised people who travelled this Christmas to stay away from the vulnerable people - your grandmother, your aunt - over the next 14 days so that you don't give them coronavirus from your holiday gatherings.

As a new variant of the virus has emerged from United Kingdom a new order from the CDC takes effect Monday, requiring a negative COVID-19 test for travelers coming to the U.S. from the United Kingdom.
As cases, hospitalizations, and deaths continue to increase across the United States, the safest way to celebrate the winter holidays or any other event is to be at home with people who live with you.

Gatherings with people (family and friends) who do not live with you can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 and can multiply the cases.
