Soko African Music feat Velile is excited to get on stage with the brand new concept VELILE and SOKO celebrate MANDELA

After the successful premiere in Austria, VELILE, one of the most powerful voices in South Africa, is back on the road performing music to celebrate Mandela's 100th anniversary with compositions dedicated to him, such as BRING HIM BACK HOME (Hugh Masekela) or the song HELELE from one of the highlights of Mandela`s tenure, the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

VELILE and her favourite band SOKO present a unique mix of catchy songs from South African Music of the past 50 years like PATA PATA, MBUBE (Lion sleeps tonight) or MALAIKA and songs with political statements like MISTER 46664 - Mandela's prisoner number on Robben Island.

Velile, one of the most powerful female voices from South Africa, has reached millions of fans worldwide with her songs HELELE and INJABULO.

2000 Velile came to Hamburg to join the talented team of international artists performing in the musical "The Lion King!". She sang and played the main role as "Rafiki" in this major musical for almost nine years.

The breakthrough as a soloist came during the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa with the song "Helele". Both RTL and Swiss television used the song to accompany their World Cup coverage. "Helele" was awarded gold in Switzerland and platinum in Germany.

SOKO, these are the Lower Saxon jazz musicians Otto Jansen (saxes) and Manfred Sauga (bass), who have been traveling with the "spirit of african jazz" at concerts and festivals in Africa and Europe. In their projects, they work with a permanent cast of German musicians and changing African guest musicians.

The founders of SOKO, Otto Jansen (saxes) and Manfred Sauga (bass), have been playing African music for more than 30 years. There have been cooperations with a large number of West and South African musicians. On several tours in South Africa, with concerts in Cape Town, East London, Umtata, and the National Art Festival in Grahamstown, SOKO also received recognition from South African audiences. Of particular importance was the performance in the "Nelson Mandela Center" in Mandela's home village Qunu.

VELILE and SOKO are just what you need for your festival or concert program in 2019.
