‘Atrangi’ – Medha Alumni Youth Festival held at Lucknow

16th Dec, Lucknow: ‘Atrangi’, Medha’s first Alumni Youth Fest was celebrated to recognize the power of youth as today’s changemakers and problem solvers. Over 1,000 participants came together from different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to unleash their creativity, explore their entrepreneurial spirits, and display their unique skills to the world. An attempt to build a stronger community of young and spirited Medha Alumni, the festival concluded today at Lucknow amidst much zeal and enthusiasm.

A showcase of the quirky, unique and extraordinary, Atrangi, saw the best of Medha Alumni’s visual, performance, and culinary artists displaying their talents. The entire festival was ideated and organized by Medha Alumni with the support of Medha.

The performance pieces kickstarted on a humorous note with a stand-up comedy act ‘Hasna Zaroori Hai’ followed by a ‘Nukkad Natak’, dance performances, ‘Mushaira’ and concluded with a musical program.

Live counters run by alumni included model-making, crafts, photography, sketching, painting, and gaming.

Shireen, a Medha Alumna and part of the organizing committee of Atrangi, said, “This is our first attempt to gather the entire alum base at one place. It makes us happy to see a good representation of our alumni from outside of Lucknow as well. They’ve come not just to display their talents but also to connect with each other and build their network.”

Among some of the notable Medha alumni who participated in Atrangi, was Vidisha Sukhwani, a B.Com graduate from Avadh Girls Degree College, Lucknow. Vidisha got away from books and accounting to become a full-time chef and baker. Vidisha now runs her own startup which delivers customized cakes and bakery products online.

Sharing her experience, Vidisha said, “It’s amazing that we’ve got this platform. Seeing everyone here at Atrangi is further motivation for me.”

Shivam Gupta, another participant of Atrangi, is a graphic designer by profession and a free-spirited artist by passion. Shivam loves to play with colors, excels in painting, live sketching, rangoli, and various other forms of art. Shivam is proud of his atrangipan and doing what is considered out-of-the-box in his city, Gorakhpur.

He was quoted saying, “I am beginning to understand the power of my talent and want to improve myself with every passing day. I am here with my colors to create something exceptional and meet other Atrangis.”
