All Superstars VPK students spend a week learning about construction

The All Superstars locations of Cape Coral and North Fort Myers VPK programs spent a week learning all about construction. Each week the VPK students of the Cape Coral and North Fort Myers All Superstars Preschool locations learn about a different theme, and it was all construction last week. The children learned about different machines used in everyday construction and built multiple structures using various materials including food!

Focussing on a specific topic each week ensures the VPK students have a firm grasp on the theme and enables them to thoroughly explore the concept through classroom work, play and homework.

All the All Superstars Preschool VPK classes learned about the different machines used in construction and were shown examples using toys. Many students, keen to show their learning, brought in construction toy examples from home for show and tell.

For classroom learning activities, the VPK teachers set the children up with multiple projects that emphasized learning through play. The children were given peanut butter, toothpicks, marsh-mellows and graham crackers and were tasked with creating a standing structure using all their building materials. Observing the childrens' creativity and willingness to share their knowledge with their peers during this activity was certainly a heart warming experience. Once all the children had standing structures, they were given permission to devour their creations.

Continuing with the theme, Miss Sandy's classroom at The All Superstars North Fort Myers VPK location built tunnels for their toy cars out of clear plastic tubing. The children fixed their tubes to top of a cubby, sloping them downward to create a ramp. With the help of Miss Sandy and her trusty stopwatch, the students quickly discovered which toy car in the classroom was the fastest.

Stay tuned to discover what the children get up to with next week's theme which is growing things!
