Sapient, a global marketing and technology services firm, today announced the appointment of Anand Bhaskar as Vice President, People Success for India.
Bhaskar, who joins Sapient’s India leadership team, will be responsible for leading Sapient’s people and organizational strategy across the company’s three offices in India, which represent more than half of the company’s global workforce.
Bhaskar’s appointment comes during a period of remarkable growth at Sapient, driven by increased demand for the company’s unique marketing and technology service offerings across all business segments – including Sapient Global Markets and SapientNitro. The company experienced 36% year-over-year revenue growth in the second quarter 2010 and recently announced an expansion of its facility space in Bangalore and plans to nearly double the number of people working there by year’s end. This month, Fortune magazine named Sapient the 45th fastest-growing company and #2 in profit growth over a three-year period.
“This is a truly exciting time to be a part of Sapient – from the incredibly transformational nature of the work we’re doing to the unprecedented growth,” said Karandeep Singh, Managing Director of Sapient in India. “As we continue building our presence in India, it’s essential that we not only maintain -- but increase -- our ability to enable the potential of our people, who are essential to Sapient’s success and momentum. We’re excited to bring Anand onto our leadership team. His extensive leadership experience will help us take our people strategy practice to the next level in India.”
Bhaskar is a seasoned human resources executive with more than 20 years’ experience leading talent strategy for companies known for their strong talent practices, including GE, Hindustan Unilever and Bharat Petroleum. Prior to joining Sapient, Bhaskar served as Human Resources Director at Microsoft Corporation, where he led HR for Microsoft’s Sales & Marketing Services Group. He has deep experience and expertise in the areas of organization design, talent management, executive assessment and coaching, learning and development, and employee relations.
“What attracted me to Sapient is the openness and creativity of its culture,” said Bhaskar. “Whether developing a trading platform or designing a mobile advertising campaign, Sapient combines a culture of creativity and innovative thinking with its deep technology roots. With the convergence of marketing and technology being fueled by the rising adoption of digital, Sapient is in a unique sweet spot for helping multinational companies transform their organizations and solve challenging business problems. As Sapient actively seeks to expand its workforce in India, I’m committed to fostering this distinctly open and creative culture and to offering unparalleled growth opportunities for our people that differentiate Sapient in India’s competitive talent market.”
