Profile of Ashiq: (Note: Will go as an Annexure with the Press Release)

Polio struck Ashiq when he was 2 years old which disabled to move independently. Being a neglected child by his parents who looked at him as a burden and many a times his father would tie him to a tree to prevent him from straying anywhere. As luck would have it he was spotted and embraced by his Guru 16 years ago, his parents were more than happy to let go of their burden. His Gurus discovered his interest in dance and music, and took him under their wings to train him professionally in Indian classical Dances. Dance therapy has healed him and made him a great wheelchair Classical Dance Teacher today.

Today his disability is not a hindrance in teaching at all and is expert in teaching and choreographs his skills to normal people too. Ashiq can move his wheelchair at the speed of 150kms per hour and does up to 80 manual spins on the wheelchair in a minute which is a world record. Ashiq is no less than any normal Bharatanatyam Dancer who uses two legs and he uses four wheels. In fact some of the Bharatanatyam repertoire is brilliantly performed on wheels. In spite of being a person of different religion he has developed the skill of reciting Sanskrit shlokas, performs Shiva Tandava and Ganapathi Vandana with ease and professionalism.
There are enormous opportunities in today’s world, one need to be professional and hardworking - name, fame, money and everything else will follow.
