Panchjanya’s Documentary ‘Amit Atal (The Unforgettable Atal)’ Screened in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 3, 2026: Panchjanya, the weekly magazine known for its commitment to nationalist thought and ideological journalism, organized a grand screening of its special documentary, “Amit Atal: The Unforgettable Atal,” based on the remarkable life and legacy of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at the Vichar Vinimay Nyas Auditorium in Jhandewalan, New Delhi.

The event was graced by RSS Sarkaryawah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale as the Chief Guest and eminent thinker and senior statesman Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi as the Guest of Honour. The programme was also attended by Panchjanya Editor Shri Hitesh Shankar, along with several distinguished intellectuals, authors, and journalists.

“Atal Ji’s Life and Journalism Were a Lifelong Mission” – Shri Dattatreya Hosabale

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dattatreya Hosabale congratulated the Panchjanya team for producing an outstanding documentary.

He said, “This documentary is both timely and deeply moving. Watching it brought alive many historic moments and cherished memories associated with Atal Ji.”

Recalling Vajpayee Ji’s early years, Shri Hosabale said that at the young age of 27, inspired by the revered Bhaurao Deoras and guided by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Ji was entrusted with the responsibility of becoming the first Editor of Panchjanya.

He noted that through his writings, poetry, and powerful oratory, Atal Ji left an indelible mark on the nation. His iconic poem, “Hindu Tan-Man, Hindu Jeevan, Rag-Rag Hindu Mera Parichay,” was first published in Panchjanya.

Referring to Atal Ji’s unwavering commitment on the issue of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Hosabale pointed out that the very first editorial of Panchjanya was titled, “Jammu & Kashmir Se Samjhauta Nahin Hone Denge” (“We Will Not Allow Any Compromise on Jammu & Kashmir”), and Atal Ji remained steadfast to this conviction throughout his life.

Emphasizing the values of journalism, Shri Hosabale said that Atal Ji regarded journalism as a sacred mission and a form of penance. He believed that a daily newspaper served as a medium of information, a weekly publication as a medium of public outreach, and a monthly magazine as a platform for ideas. Appreciating Panchjanya’s modern presentation and use of technology, he remarked that the documentary would help introduce younger generations to the life and ideals of one of India’s greatest nation-builders.

Guest of Honour Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, a long-time associate of Atal Ji, shared emotional memories dating back to 1948 when he worked alongside Atal Ji and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Recalling the period of the Janata Party government, Dr. Joshi said "He Never Compromised on Principles or Ideology. Amid intense political turbulence, Atal Ji stood out as the one leader who consistently rose above partisan considerations. Atal Ji was among the first Indian leaders to visit China and fearlessly express opposition to its policies."

Speaking about Atal Ji’s deep association with the RSS, Dr. Joshi recounted that when certain political groups attempted to pressure him into severing ties with the Sangh, Atal Ji firmly responded, “Our umbilical cord is connected to the Sangh. How can we separate ourselves from it?” He also made it clear in Parliament that he would not even “touch with a pair of tongs” any government that demanded a compromise on ideological principles.

Sharing an anecdote from his tenure as Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Dr. Joshi recalled that when controversy was created over the inclusion of Saraswati Vandana in schools, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee took a clear and resolute stand, stating, “If Saraswati Vandana cannot be part of our government’s educational institutions, then under which government will it be? It must certainly be included. Atal Ji was equally committed to research and efforts aimed at reviving the ancient Saraswati River."

Dr. Joshi concluded by saying that India’s present times demand leadership that moves forward with determination, ideological clarity, and an inclusive approach that carries everyone along.
