Childhood is a time of learning. We learn lessons taught by our parents and learn from those within our community. Children learn social norms and expectations and children may not always talk about what they observe but they observe things, nonetheless. Children may also recognize injustices even though they may not have the ability to speak out against them.
Dr. Tae Yun Kim recognizes the troubles she has overcome as a child growing up in South Korea. Having been born into poverty in South Korea and a child during the Korean War, Dr. Tae Yun Kim
remembers the physical and mental abuse she experienced as a child inflicted by both her mother and father. She also experienced rejection within her small community for no other reason than being born a girl.
Ultimately, she was abandoned and left to die because of the limits on food resources. As a starving child, a young Tae Yun Kim was kept alive thanks to the US Military where she was provided cups of reconstituted dried milk and every once in a while benefited from US soldiers willing to give her the leftovers from their meals. As an adult, she knows that the abuse and neglect of children is wrong but she hasn’t let her dark past stop her from being successful and reaching out to other children who have suffered.
Dr. Tae Yun Kim
is eternally grateful for the aid the US Military provided her and helps other under privileged children by supporting campaigns such as the Marines’ Toys for Tots annual toy drive. She also strives to help others aspiring to become successful by building a new recording studio that she will rent out at an affordable price so it can be used without the need to take out a loan for use.
Dr. Tae Yun Kim’s recording studio is part of the new headquarters building for Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions that Dr. Tae Yun Kim
is a CEO of. And while she got off to a sad and difficult start, Dr. Tae Yun Kim encourages everyone to look inside themselves to find their own inner strength and stay positive. She believes everyone can achieve success and their personal choices make the difference.
