FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE⎯ July 30, 2012⎯Michael Vick has decided to aim for more than extra yards. The Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback is taking his drive to help those in need of second chances across the nation.
Vick has founded Team Vick Foundation, a non-profit, 501c3 charity to provide second chances and support to individuals and communities who need it most. Committed to improving lives and communities, Vick’s vision and leadership will be focused on improving livelihoods and communities through public service.
“It was important for me to find a way to give back that provided support and encouragement for those who have fallen off course and may have lost their way,” shares Vick. “This foundation was created to remind those individuals that not only can they still make it, but they can still make a difference.”
With a full year of programming ready to roll out beginning this August, the Team Vick Foundation is poised to inspire individuals through its diverse initiatives and programs that touch on the foundation’s 7 (seven) principles including: Responsibility, Citizenship, Care, Fairness, Respect, Trustworthiness and Accountability.
Vick who recently announced his new clothing line, V7, a new book Finally Free, slated for September 4 release, and his pledge to drive the Eagles to the Play-offs, is more focused than ever. Understanding the responsibility that comes with success, Vick is hard at work making sure that he puts his celebrity to good use.
"I thank God," he says. "With success comes a lot of responsibility. This is my responsibility. Because it's not just about me, it's about every kid that I can affect."
