This week saw the new Dean of the Faculty of Wellbeing and Social Sciences at the University of Bolton, Professor Carole Truman, visit their branch campus in Ras Al Khaimah. During her short visit she gave a guest lecture on ‘Dissertation and Project Supervision’ as part of the campus staff development programme. She also spent time talking to staff and students at the campus and sitting in on one of the Programme Examination Boards. Speaking of her time at the RAK campus she said;
“I have enjoyed my time at RAK tremendously. It was useful and important for me to see and appreciate the different context in which Bolton students at RAK study in comparison to their counterparts at the main Bolton campus”
During Professor Truman’s visit she also had discussions with staff and senior management at RAK about the possibility of launching programmes from her Faculty at RAK including Education Masters and Health and Psychology programmes.
Dr. Chris Smith, Manager for Staff Development at the RAK campus who coordinated Prof Truman’s visit added that ‘high profile visitors from the University of Bolton such as Prof Truman would help provide the required impetus for the launch of shorter term Education, Health & other such programmes which, when launched would provide the UOB, RAK campus with a newer dimension besides helping the campus to work with government & other agencies in the sector’
It was not all work however as the Professor, a keen Manchester United football fan, was treated to a night out watching the European Championship Final, in which Spain beat Italy 4 – 0. After her visit Professor Truman flew out to Australia where she was attending a conference.
