In 1994, Sally McFarland, MD, of Oakton, VA, was made a member of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia (MSNVA). Now, in 2012, McFarland is proud to announce that she is celebrating her 18th year with the highly respected Medical Society of the area she loves so greatly.

“Being a part of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia has been an all around amazing experience for me,” claims Sally Ann McFarland. “Really, I can’t speak highly enough about the society.”

Since the not-for-profit association was founded in 1884, it has been a wealth of resources and connections for thousands of physicians. Currently, the Medical Society of Northern Virginia provides its services to more than 1,200 medical professionals.

“The Society has provided some terrific educational opportunities to its members, I think,” states McFarland. “Any good doctor is always trying to learn more. So, having a resource like the Medical Society right here in Northern Virginia is a great way to make that happen.”

Now, 18 years later, McFarland has never once looked back on her decision to join the Medical Society of Northern Virginia in 1994. On September 1, 2011, McFarland opened her own solo internal medicine practice in Fairfax, VA. “As we are a new practice, it’s nice to know that the Medical Society is there to support us should we need any help,” remarks Sally Mcfarland MD Oakton VA.

Though McFarland’s practice is new, Sally Ann McFarland, herself, is well experienced in a variety of different areas in the medical profession. A Virginian through and through, McFarland graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1984.

“If I have any complaint, it’s just that I wish I had joined earlier! It’s a tremendous resource – especially for younger doctors who are just starting out with their careers,” she states. In addition to providing young doctors with resources and support, the MSNVA also focuses on making healthcare accessible for low-income residents of Fairfax County.

“I’m excited about the positive response we’ve gotten already,” says Dr. McFarland.
