Ida Botta has never been the kind of person to be shy about pursuing what she wants. It didn’t take her long to know that what she wanted to do was teach others. Since she knew what it was that she wanted to do with her working future she set out to make her dreams reality.
She graduated Clarkstown North High school in 1999 she went to St. Thomas Aquinas College where she attended for only a year and a half. She then transferred her earned credits to Iona College. While attending Iona College and earning her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Ida Botta knew she wanted to be a double major. So she majored in Italian and Education. She completed her certifications in 2003. She also earned her Professional Certificate of New York State to teach Italian in 7-12th grades.
But earning her Bachelor’s degree was not the stopping point for Ida Botta. She immediately continued on with her education and returning to Iona College she earned her Master’s in Educational Technology between 2003 and 2006. She continues to take classes to improve her Professional Learning Development.
While Ida Botta worked on earning both her degrees quick precession she had already been working at first a middle school called Haverstraw Middle School. She only worked there for one year before she transferred and worked at Fieldstone Secondary School where she worked from 2004 to 2012.
Ida Botta is not afraid to work while she goes to school. And like many in the educational profession it is hard to find work if you’ve already earned your master’s degree before you’ve worked. Often times it is because the school district doesn’t want to pay someone the full higher cost when they have a master’s so the teacher starts their position with their bachelor’s then continues their education while they teach.
And while Ida Botta loves what she does. She has set her sights in another direction within the field of education. Ida Botta as expressed that she doesn’t want to change what she does but she does want to become a Guidance Counselor. No doubt she will put much work towards her goal and reach the position she wants.
