Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. Organize Plantation Drive with children to celebrate World Environment Day in Uttar Pradesh

~ A joint initiative with Gram Niyogan Kendra to plant samplings in the surrounding community and create awareness about environment preservation~

~Painting competition, poster making, community activities and plantation drives organized across several location in states~


Uttar Pradesh: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. celebrated the World Environment Day by organizing a Plantation drive with the community children at the Dasna Plant. The saplings were planted by the children and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt, Ltd personnel and was followed by an activity called ‘Drape the Tree’ where children highlighted the importance of trees. The event was attended by Mr. Prateek Dubey, Zonal Head Public Affairs and Communication, HCCB Dasna Plant and Dr. Sutapa Mukherjee, President, Gram Niyogan Kendra which was the NGO partner for the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prateek Dubey, Zonal Head Public Affairs and Communication, HCCB said, “According to us, celebrating the World Environment Day by planting saplings with children is the best way to educate them about the importance of environment preservation and make them responsible citizens. We, as a company are committed to the dual goal of building sustainable communities and conserving our natural resources.”

According to Dr. Sutapa Mukherjee, President, Gram Niyogan Kendra, “We are happy to be a part of this celebration with Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. and hope that the community dwellers nurture the plants in the coming years to receive maximum benefits. The participation of children in this plantation drive is a great idea to make them cautious and sensitive towards the need for environment protection”

Mr Amit Singhal, Zonal Head HR,HCCB spoke to the children and said " I hope that the learning you got today remain with you for a long time to come and you all will imbibe the spirit of conservation and spread the message amongst your friends and families”.

As a part of the World Environment Day Celebrations, several other initiatives were undertaken by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd across the state of Uttar Pradesh. In Dasna apart from plantation drive, a poster making competition was organized for the children. The theme of the competition was conservation of environment and the children not only enjoyed making posters but also learnt about the important topic. In Mehandiganj, Varanasi, a tree plantation drive was organized. In addition to the drive, talks were held by experts on plantation and its effects on the environment. This detailed and informative interaction was intended to offer insight and knowledge about environment and the dynamics that affect it. In Nazibabad, HCCB along with local community members dedicated the newly installed hand pumps to the people of the community. This intervention will help the community in managing their domestic water needs.

The fortnight long celebrations of World Environment Day across the business Units continues with several projects and awareness programs being conducted to generate awareness about Environment Conservation. These programs are being conducted in partnership with local NGO's, community leaders, associates of bottling units and other important stakeholders.
