Cambridge, MA- As the obesity epidemic in the United States rises to staggering levels, the members of Durbrow Performance Training, a fitness and fat loss training center in Cambridge, are fighting back and creating lean, sculpted bodies. The best part about this transformation contest was there were no diets and no quick fix strategies.
Members worked out with a combination of strength, conditioning and metabolic sessions designed to burn fat while enhancing muscle development and raising their metabolism. The eating plan was simple- proteins, vegetables, some fruits and healthy fats.
“We designed this transformation contest as a team environment for these folks because even with such a structured workout, everyone always needs a little boost of motivation,” says Callie Durbrow, owner of Durbrow Performance Training.
The contest was 4 weeks long and members were assessed for body fat and their inches were measured both before and after. There was a total of 193 pounds of fat lost and 203 inches lost.
“The results that we got were really excellent because we weren’t focusing on just the weight of the scale. Members could really see changes in the actual composition of their bodies. They weren’t just losing weight, they were losing fat and along the way they were developing lean muscle which makes the body look really nice and lean,” Durbrow says.
Members could earn points for attendance, checking in on Facebook and encouraging their friends to sign up for the contest.
“We wanted to really encourage 100% participation so we added some incentives. All of the points were calculated each week and we kept a running tally at the gym. That got people really pumped up and competitive,” Durbrow mentions. “Everyone was competing to bring in more friends because they got extra points for that.”
Prizes were given out at the end of the contest but the real prize is the brand new body that these members walked away with. “Everyone was a winner if you look at what they accomplished in terms of reshaping their body and learning how to eat properly,” says Durbrow.
Durbrow Performance Training is a fitness and fat loss training studio established in 2009. Their philosophy is centered around keeping fitness simple and fun and using three basic strategies- strength, conditioning and a modified low carb approach to eating.
