Which? Release Airport Parking Survey; Reveal How to Get the Best Price

Which? has released an airport parking survey. They compare the cost of parking in on and off airport car parks at 15 UK airports, with their findings echoing the advice given by UK airport parking price comparison website 1stairportparking.co.uk. To get the best deal take the following steps:

1. Book in advance

Always book airport parking in advance. NEVER drive up to the airport and pay the gate price. Which? found that at Birmingham Airport it cost three times as much to drive up, park and pay than to pre-book. Fail to pre-book and you will pay 2 3 times as much as those who book in advance.

2. Compare prices

Which? suggest using an airport parking price comparison websites that shows prices for off and on airport parking at a number of suppliers to search for the best deal. 1stairportparking.co.uk is one such UK airport parking price comparison website.

3. Consider off airport parking

With airport parking there is usually a trade off between price and convenience. The cheaper the price, the further the car park is from the terminal. The nearer it is to the terminal, the higher the price.

Which? suggest comparing the cost of on airport parking with the cost of off airport parking. Off airport parking usually costs less, but the transfer time can be longer.

4. If you plan to park in the on airport car park, consider Meet and Greet parking

Meet and greet is the most convenient type of airport parking. Customers are typically met by a driver in the short stay car park or drop off zone yards from the terminal. The driver takes their car and parks it for the duration of the stay whilst the customer takes the short walk to the terminal. On their return, the customer meets the driver with their car in the same place. At some airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, this can be as cheap or cheaper than the on airport car park, and is much more convenient.
