KEY LARGO, FL - On Friday, May 18th, Boats Direct USA will sponsor the 1st Annual Key Largo Fun Run. Boats from all over Florida are invited to participate in the leisurely ride through the Florida Keys for a worthy cause.

The Fun Run will begin and end at Gilberts where the first 100 boats to register will be treated to lunch, along with a DVD of the race to be filmed from an onsite helicopter.

For those who are wondering what to do in the Florida Keys this spring, keep in mind that boat registration is free. Instead, Boats Direct USA is asking that participants make a donation to the Coral Restoration Foundations Upper Keys Reef Restoration Project for which they hope to raise $100,000 with this inaugural event.

CRFs President and Founder, Ken Nedimeyer, has been diving, admiring and working to preserve Floridas coral for over 40 years. Nedimeyer was recently named a CNN Hero for his work with CRF, creating coral nurseries right here in the Keys to help actively restore balance to the fragile marine ecosystem that is so important to this region.

Additionally, Boats Direct USA and Offlease Only will be raffling off a 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible as part of the event, to make the Key Largo Fun Run among the truly memorable things to do in the Keys Largo.

For a suggested donation of $20, participants will be entered to win the car, which has under 35,000 miles. Only 5,000 tickets will be sold, so interested parties should go online to enter today. If tickets sell out online, there will be no more available the day of the Fun Run. Entrants need not be present to win.
