Jacob Javitz Center, New York City - April 23, 2012 The New York International Auto Show is well underway as Dodge dealership owner, Gary Barbera makes a debut at the special event. Dodge President, Reid Bigland, also appears alongside the brand new Dodge Dart during its showcase.

“The Dodge Dart is ready for its comeback,” Gary Barbera, said when asked about the Dart’s new appeal. The 2013 Dodge Dart is a compact sedan that will replace the current Dodge Caliber. Gary Barbera has a certain respect for the new vehicle. “Dart has the look, style and features to set it apart from anything else in the class,” said Richard Cox, the Dodge brand chief, at the press conference here. “The Dart will shatter consumer perception of what a compact car can be.”

Gary Barbera was excited to see the new Dart, hoping it would be welcome addition to his current lineup of Chrysler vehicles at his Barbera’s Autoland dealership in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Dodge Dart has several different engine options that include: 160-horsepower 2-liter 4-cylinder, known as the Tigershark; a 160-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder like that in the Fiat 500 Abarth; or a 184-horsepower Tigershark 2.4-liter 4, which will not be ready until four months after the initial introduction. These are paired with a 6-speed manual — available with all engines — a 6-speed automatic or, with the turbo, a 6-speed dual dry-clutch unit. Dodge expects the thriftiest Dart to return 40 miles per gallon in combined city-highway driving.

Production on the new Dodge dart will begin in the second quarter, with pricing beginning at $15,995. “Great car, Great quality, great price. The new Dart will be a very good sell,” said Gary Barbera after seeing the vehicle at the New York International Auto Show.
