Although Roland Buyama, DDS, currently owns a practice in Southern California, he attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) from 1993 to 1997. During his education there he learned the basic and advanced skills of general dentistry, attributes that would lay the foundation for what has become a successful 13-year career. When asked how his experiences at Indiana University affected him positively, Roland Buyama DDS responded:

"Attending IUSD was undoubtedly one of the best decisions of my life, as it gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in a unique environment that was conducive to my development as a dentist. Also, the university opened the door to an extraordinary postgraduate advanced educational program that allowed me to specialize in my current field of pediatric dentistry."

Aside from offering one of the country's best dental residency programs at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children, IUSD also shares its campus with the Indiana University Medical Center, which has one of the most extensive medical research libraries and educational centers on the planet.

As a student of the DDS class of 1997 Dr. Buyama was a part of an elite group of students that equaled less than 10% of the total amount of applicants that year.

After graduating from IUSD with a DDS, Roland Buyama DDS decided to complete a two-year pediatric dental residency specialty program, which he graduated from in 1999. Only months later he was practicing professionally in San Diego, and eight years later he was named a top dentist in San Diego Magazine, an accolade that he has managed to receive each year since.
