The hospital hosts a series of sports activities for city children, and encourages them to adopt active lifestyles
Panchkula, Nov 15 2016: Paras Bliss Hospital, Panchkula today celebrated Children?s Day by organizing a series of engaging events and sports activities for children of the city to educate them about the importance of sports and active lifestyles in ushering healthy body and mind.
The Sport ? Nick event was organized on the hospital premises where children of all age groups gathered together to display their prowess in different sports.
The event was divided into two sessions. The games included Tricycle race, Jalebi race and Tug of war among children of ages 3 to 5 years. The event also organized Lemon race, Sack race and Three Legged race for children in the ages of 5 to 8 years.
The sessions also included informative talk for children who were educated about how playing active sports and adopting physically active lifestyles cannot just make them stronger and more confident but also ensure they grow up to become healthy adults.
?Physical inactivity is a growing problem among children today. A lot of parents tell us that their children do not want to go outdoors to play and would rather stay glued to cartoon shows on television or video games. This is a very unhealthy lifestyle especially in children who inculcate life-long habits in childhood. Through this event we wanted to promote sporting activities among children and encourage them to take part in more outdoor games,? said Dr Rishi Mangat, Unit Head, Paras Bliss Hospital, Panchkula.
Pediatricians and hospital staff mingled with the children and also encouraged them to cheer their counterparts in games to promote healthy competition.
?We believe there is great need today to encourage children to take up sports in a big way. This helps boosting stamina, mental and physical strength and helps them become team players. Children learn a lot through sporting activities. Schools must create more special avenues to encourage children into sports rather than just focusing on academics,? adds Dr Rishi Mangat, Unit Head, Paras Bliss Hospital, Panchkula.
The event saw active participation of children who were also given gifts and prizes on their special day.
