Hindus have commended launching of yoga classes at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports; calling it a step in the positive direction.

These classes, being offered till August 13 on Fridays and Saturdays, include yoga and breathing exercises in the boarding lounges of Paris-Charles de Gaulle (terminals 1, 2A, 2C, 2E, 3) and Paris-Orly (South and West terminals) airports and are open to all travelers, to make ?time at the airport truly enjoyable?. The tagline of this special service is ?Stay Zen all summer with ParisYogaA?roport!? and it is part of the pledge ?Paris loves you?.

Welcoming this gesture, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, urged A?roports de Paris (ADP, which manages these airports) CEO Augustin de Romanet to create permanent yoga spaces at these Paris airports available during all airport hours 365 days a year to all passengers, employees, visitors and vendors if ADP was serious to keep these as world-class airports, enhance the passenger experience and help reduce their stress levels.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, also urged all commercial airports of Europe to provide yoga facilities as many USA and world airports now did offer yoga spaces.

Yoga, referred as ?a living fossil?, was a mental and physical discipline, for everybody to share and benefit from, whose traces went back to around 2,000 BCE to Indus Valley civilization, Rajan Zed noted.

Zed further said that yoga, although introduced and nourished by Hinduism, was a world heritage and liberation powerhouse to be utilized by all. According to Patanjali who codified it in Yoga Sutra, yoga was a methodical effort to attain perfection, through the control of the different elements of human nature, physical and psychical.

According to US National Institutes of Health, yoga may help one to feel more relaxed, be more flexible, improve posture, breathe deeply, and get rid of stress. Yoga was the repository of something basic in the human soul and psyche, Rajan Zed added.

In 2015, ADP handled over 95 million passengers and 2.2 million metric tonnes of freight and mail at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly. Edward Arkwright is its Deputy CEO.
