Melanie Haynes, 25 year veteran actress and voice over performer, has recently moved into her new audio studio. The main focus of the studio is the “bunker” of an audio booth that was built to standards recommended by Bruce Coffman of touch thirty three, inc.

Melanie Haynes, 25 year veteran actress and voice over performer, has recently moved into her new audio studio. The main focus of the studio is the “bunker” of an audio booth that was built to standards recommended by Bruce Coffman of touch thirty three, inc. The 6x8 ft audio booth is totally free standing with its own ceiling, but made to look as if it is attached to the walls and ceiling in one corner of the 600 sq ft studio. The booth features double wall, screwed and glued construction, with double layers of sheetrock on both inside and outside walls, double layers of jute insulation separated by Sound Block woven in-between, and a mammoth door. The piece de resistance for Haynes is the large double glass window in the audio booth which faces out the huge picture windows of the studio building itself overlooking the pool.

“For seven years, I was quite happy in my little studio in the house, but unfortunately it required that I plug the windows with foam sound insulation. I had created a little ‘cave’ to work in for acoustical reasons which consisted of office divider panels and heavy comforters,” says Melanie. “Now, it’s literally a breath of fresh air to work all day in the booth and still be able to see the sun shining!”
