If you are a boy or girl in school final now or finished school final in 2009 and you believe just not in foreseeing future but in enabling it, then you must get set for BITSAT 2010, the unique Computer based online test for admissions to just not one or two but 40 degree programmes of BITS Pilani.

Out of the 40 degrees, 16 are offered at Pilani campus 7 Engineering branches, Pharmacy, 5 MSc branches and 3 MSc (Tech) branches. 11 degrees offered at Goa Campus include 5 Engineering branches, 5 MSc branches and 1 MSc (Tech) branch. 13 degrees offered at Hyderabad campus include 6 Engineering branches, Pharmacy, 5 MS branches and 1 MSc (Tech) branch.

The educational system at BITS ensures that all the 40 degrees have the Practice School option which assures seven and half months of on the job project work for all the students in leading industries and R&D labs not only in India but also across the globe.

All students admitted to M.Sc programmes are given an opportunity to work under the dual degree scheme for one of the engineering branches or Pharmacy. The allotment of dual degree is done for the admitted students of MSc programmes after they complete one year at BITS Pilani.

Typically it takes 5 years to complete dual degree and some of the red hot combos include Maths and Computer Science, Chemistry and Chemical, Physics and Mechanical, Physics and EEE, Biological Sciences and Pharmacy, Biological Sciences and EEE etc.

Many may not know that BITS, Pilani is one of the few early schools of Pharmacy in India and was established in 1950, under the able leadership of none other than (Late) Prof. M. L. Schroff, Father of Pharmacy Education in India. BITS Pilani has collaborative MoUs with Pharma majors such as Dr Reddy Labs, Matrix Labs, Lupin, Torrent, etc.

The Biological Sciences Group of BITS has top of the shelf facilities and faculty for research in cutting edge technologies and the group is led by Dr Ashis K Das who had earlier been with Johns Hopkins University as well as World Health Organization.

For BITS Pilani merit is the sole criterion and the aspiring candidates are required to have a minimum aggregate of 80% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the 12th examination with at least 60% marks in each of the subjects. Board toppers can apply for direct admissions also and it a matter of pride that every year 20 to 30 board toppers choose BITS Pilani as their road to excellence.

BITS Pilani has excellent hostel facilities for girls and to further the cause of women education, BITS Pilani has shown a special gesture by making the BITSAT application fee for female candidates as Rs 500/- only as against Rs 1000/- for male candidates in case the form is downloaded from http://www.bitsadmission.com.

BITSAT is a 3 hour duration test offered to candidates on computers at dedicated computer centres at different cities spread across India. The test has objective type (multiple choice) questions only. The test will be conducted during 10th May to 10th June 2010.
